چکیده

Tuta absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is considered one of the main pests threatening tomato production worldwide. In Mediterranean, use predatory mirids widespread, and although several larval parasitoid species have been recorded in area, their contribution to biological control pest often neglected. With general objective improving T. absoluta, our field study aimed determine relative abundance natural enemies associated with fields assess whether insectary plants placed vicinity vegetable crops would help improve functional biodiversity farms. The was conducted during two years six commercial Northeast Spain that were managed using an integrated management program based on mirid conservation. Our results indicated Necremnus tutae Ribes & Bernardo (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) by far enemy responsible for parasitism absoluta. flowering used present attractive are interest not only but also other coexisting at farm level, including wasps, hoverflies, important beneficials, such as Orius spp., ladybeetles thrips.

The South American tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is an invasive Neotropical pest. After its first detection in Europe, it rapidly invaded more than 30 Western Palaearctic countries becoming a serious agricultural threat to tomato production in both protected and open-field crops. Among the pest control tactics against exotic pests, biological control using ...

Reproductive Biology and Functional Response of Dineulophus phtorimaeae, a Natural Enemy of the Tomato Moth, Tuta absoluta

The tomato moth, Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is a major pest in South America and is at present an important invasive species in the Mediterranean Basin. The larval stadium mines leaves, stems, and fruits, and chemical control is the most used control method in both its original range and the invaded distribution regions. Since current T. absoluta control strategies seem limited, ...

First Observation and Identification of Some Natural Enemies Collected from Heavily Infested Tomato by Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) in Jordan

Biweekly field visits starting from January to the end of April 2011 were conducted to tomato fields (open and plastic houses) heavily infested with the tomato borer Tuta absoluta, in order to survey natural enemies associated with this pest. Three hemipterans were found: Orius albidipennis, Orius sp. (Anthocoridae) and Nesidiocoris tenuis (Miridae). In addition, the parasitic wasp Bracon (Habr...

Functional Responses of Three Neotropical Mirid Predators to Eggs of Tuta absoluta on Tomato

Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) has quickly developed into a significant tomato pest worldwide. While the recently found mirid predators Macrolophus basicornis (Stal), Engytatus varians (Distant) and Campyloneuropsis infumatus (Carvalho) of this pest are able to establish and reproduce on tomato, biological knowledge of these mirids is still limited. Here we describe the functional response of the thre...

Survival of a specialist natural enemy experiencing resource competition with an omnivorous predator when sharing the invasive prey Tuta absoluta

Can specialist natural enemies persist in ecosystems when competing with omnivorous natural enemies for their shared prey? The consequences of omnivory have been studied theoretically, but empirical studies are still lacking. Omnivory is nevertheless common in nature and omnivorous predators coexist with specialists in many ecosystems, even when they are intraguild predators. This type of assoc...
